I take a walk sometimes,
On soothing lonely nights,
Talking to the shadows that come alive,
About the adventures we had,
Just, you and I.
I remember,
The playground where our wars were waged,
The basement where our cycles were raced,
The cemetery where our bravery was faked,
The staircase where our promise was made.
I laugh at times,
At our symphony of noise,
At our fights over toys,
At our ingenious pranks,
At our cardboard tanks.
I won’t forget that time,
When we gazed at a dark sky,
When I did not have the strength to try,
When all I wanted was to cry,
When you made me smile.
I cherish,
Those pirates who stole joy in broad daylight,
Those pilots of dreams who took flight,
Those liars with creative minds,
Those explorers with small delightful finds.
I know,
That now we live in a different time,
That now we are responsible for our own crime,
That change has not been kind,
That our connection has declined.
But you know,
On a cold stormy night,
I find warmth in my life,
From the memories we froze that time,
That bring peace to my mind.
Let’s take a walk sometimes,
On soothing lonely nights,
Take the shadows that come alive,
To the lost places we can find,
On adventures where happiness resides,
Just, you and I.
A very meaningful poem…keep it up!!
